One step closer to ITIL Expert: Service Strategy Certified!

Just completed my 2nd ITIL Intermediate course provided by ThinkSmart Bahrain, paving my way to ITIL Expert and specializing in IT Service Management. What is ITIL Service Strategy all about?

The center and origin point of the ITIL Service Lifecycle, the ITIL Service Strategy (SS) volume, provides guidance on clarification and prioritization of service-provider investments in services. More generally, Service Strategy focuses on helping IT organizations improve and develop over the long term. In both cases, Service Strategy relies largely upon a market-driven approach. Key topics covered include service value definition, business-case development, service assets, market analysis, and service provider types. List of covered processes:

IT service management
Service portfolio management
Financial management for IT services
Demand management
Business relationship management

For candidates in the ITIL Intermediate Capability stream, the Service Offerings and Agreements (SOA) Qualification course and exam are most closely aligned to the Service Strategy (SS) Qualification course and exam in the Lifecycle stream.

It was NOT an easy course, with a required level of proficiency far greater than ITIL Service Operation Management course. It contained Financial Management linked to IT and Infrastructure, making it the hardest ITIL Intermediate course out there, surpassed by none but the MALC (Managing Across Life Cycle, ITIL Expert certification exam).

I hope I become an ITIL Expert during 2015. Original plan was to become so during 2014 but things seem to have delayed because of Tamkeen changing their plans and certification schemes in 2014 delaying the acceptance of many course applications for a number of months.
